"We had some residents that brought to our attention that the river needed some work," City Manager Trish Sullivan said. "There was some trash that had been deposited by people floating and then Rob Taylor mentioned that Target would be willing to do a clean-up."
The Saturday project will be divided into a three-part event. Volunteers can meet for registration at 8:30 a.m. at city hall. A breakfast will be provided at that time for those volunteering to clean up the river areas.
A second registration begins at 9 a.m. for Osborne Park. Clean-up efforts will end for the river at noon and the park will continue clean-up through 3 p.m. Volunteers are encouraged to meet at the old fire station on Covered Bridge Road to register to work at the park.
A dedication ceremony will be held for the Li'l Rob Taylor Memorial Ball Field at noon.
"The work day at Osborne Park includes painting, cleaning, planting shrubbery, filling in dirt and mulch [among other project efforts]," Sullivan said.
All volunteers must sign a liability release form and those under 18 years old must have a parent signature for the liability.
A Facebook group has been created for the event to provide interested volunteers with more information and a place to communicate. Further questions and more information can be obtained by calling the Euharlee City Hall at 770-386-1542.
