The council will vote at their next meeting on allowing the haunted Euharlee ghost walk and a tour of homes for Christmas in the city.
A complaint was presented to the council in regard to a newly placed city sign across from the Presbyterian Church. Church members were angered by the city's placement of the sign without consulting the church for permission first. The city argued that the sign is placed on Covered Bridge Road, which is within the city's jurisdiction and is within the right of way of the road and not church property.
The city also will vote on pursuing bids for replacement of the retaining wall that runs along the front of the Covered Bridge Store. Currently, the wall is crumbling and consists of a combination of supports varying from railroad crossties to stone.
Also considered was an opportunity zone, consistent with the current zoning plan. The zone would provide economic growth and job encouragement. The city is working closely with the Department for Economic Development on bringing the opportunity into a reality.
