An explosion at Georgia Power Plant Bowen rocked Euharlee Thursday just before 4 p.m. as coal unit 2 was being brought down for a maintenance outage.

Georgia Power is reporting that all employees are accounted for and there are no major injuries with only four minor injuries — three of which were treated on site while one was treated at a hospital and has since been released.

According to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office,Georgia Power is in charge of the scene at this time. They have established a phone line for the public to call to inquire about their family members who may have been at the power plant. This number is 706-266-9902.
