Fire scorches HVAC system at Barnsley Gardens

Bartow County Fire Department on Wednesday worked a fire that damaged the ductwork at Barnsley Gardens.

According to BCFD, the blaze began just before 2 p.m. in the HVAC system in the kitchen of 597 Barnsley Gardens Road. About $5,000 in damages was reported, all of it to the heating and air system of the kitchen area.

No one was injured and fire personnel were back in service by 4 p.m.

BCFD also worked a furnace fire at 5-A Briarwood Lane in the early hours of Wednesday.

The blaze, which occurred about 2:15 a.m., was contained to the apartment and consisted mostly of heavy smoke.

No one was injured, but the Red Cross assisted the family due to the lack of heating in the apartment.

Woman wanted in Bartow captured in North Carolina

A woman wanted through Bartow County on several counts, including drug and traffic offenses, was arrested Tuesday in North Carolina during a traffic stop.

According to The Lexington Dispatch, Shannon Renee Bodenhamer, 38, of 12802 Old U.S. Highway 52, Winston-Salem, N.C., was taken into custody and placed into the Davidson County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond, making her first court appearance Tuesday.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a white 1994 Chevrolet Camaro on Jones Road, the paper reported, during which they learned Bodenhamer was wanted on a fugitive warrant from Bartow County for failing to appear on charges of possession of methamphetamine, failure to stop, improper tag and driving with no license.
