A Bartow County firefighter was taken to Cartersville Medical Center Thursday afternoon after suffering heat exhaustion while battling a blaze.

According to the department, the blaze on Seahorse Circle destroyed a double-wide mobile home just after 3 p.m. Stations 1, 4, 6 and 9 responded to the scene of the fire, which also scorched some of the surrounding woods.

Residents were home at the time but were able to get out safely, a spokesperson said.

Thursday evening the department worked two structure fires -- one on Burnt Hickory Road in Cartersville and the other in Rydal -- although initial details were limited.

Stations 2 and 12 worked the Cartersville fire about 7 p.m. Cartersville Fire Department units who arrived first advised flames showing and approached in a defensive mode.

According to BCFD, the Rydal blaze was a two-story, single-family dwelling and crews were still on the scene just before 10 p.m.

No injuries were reported in either.
