According to the report, during a company picnic held at a group shelter on Red Top Beach Road around noon, the building was left unlocked and when those present returned four handbags had been taken.
At 5 p.m., the deputy was notified that an employee of Famous Brand Shoes, 120 Cherokee Place, had located three purses in a trash bin behind the store. Two cameras, two iPhones and three BlackBerry devices were not recovered and it appeared the contents of the bags had been mixed up.
Man helped from home
after tree strikes residence
BCSO deputies were called to help fire and EMS personnel after a tree struck an Acworth home early Monday.
According to the report, a large tree split the Anns Trace residence in half and deputies entered the home just after 2 a.m. where they helped an elderly, handicapped man from the home.
Bartow County Fire Department personnel was unable to provide details Thursday afternoon.
Accidents and fires
Cartersville police reported working the following Wednesday crashes:
* About 11:45 a.m. a 2004 Toyota Tundra backed into a 2003 Mercedes E320 in the parking lot of 548 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. No one was injured or cited. The vehicles were slightly damaged.
* At 11:45 a.m. a 2007 Ford Expedition backing from a parking space at Target, 100 Cherokee Place, struck a 1997 Toyota Camry in the adjacent space. There were no citations or injuries. The vehicles were slightly damaged.
* Just before 4 p.m. a 2006 Honda Civic struck in the rear a 2006 Honda Accord at Ga. 61 and Ga. 113. The driver of the Civic was cited with following too closely. No one was injured. The vehicles were slightly damaged.
* A 2006 Freightliner M2-106 struck the awning of 898 Joe Frank Harris Parkway just before 7:30 p.m. after misjudging the clearance. The driver was not cited and no one was injured. The truck was not damaged and the awning was slightly damaged.
Georgia State Patrol reported working two accidents with one injury in the 24 hours through 4 p.m. Thursday.
Bartow County and Cartersville firefighters reported working no fires in the same time period.
