The suspects allegedly involved in an armed robbery at a Kangaroo gas station Monday night are still at large.

Cartersville police responded to the robbery at 898 Joe Frank Harris Parkway at approximately 9:57 p.m., according to the incident report. A witness said four black males came into the store with trash bags and they allegedly grabbed items from behind the counter.

A store employee said the men entered the store carrying trash bags and reportedly took multiple packs of cigarettes and lottery tickets. The employee said she opened the cash drawer and one of the suspects grabbed the money before fleeing out the door.

During the investigation, according to the report, a red shoe was found at the back of the store and it was taken into evidence. The incident report did not identify the weapon reportedly used in the robbery or list any suspects.

Man flees traffic stop, leaves wallet behind

After successfully fleeing Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputies on foot early Tuesday morning, a man left his wallet behind in the road.

When a deputy saw a black Acura sedan with no tag lights traveling south on Cassville Road, he followed the vehicle to perform a traffic stop. The Acura turned right on Iron Belt Road, then made another right on David Street, according to the incident report. After pulling into a driveway on David Street, the driver, later identified as David Montgomery III, got out of the vehicle and ran through a yard toward Franklin Drive. The deputy noted it appeared Montgomery was holding something in his left hand.

Montgomery reportedly ran into a dark area around a house and the deputy lost track of him.

A woman was sitting inside Montgomery’s vehicle. The woman said she did not know his name and he was giving her a ride home.

After checking the area where Montgomery fled, deputies found a black wallet with Montgomery’s driver’s license, debit card, business cards and approximately $61 in cash. Although additional deputies searched for Montgomery, they did not find him.

Bartow County dispatch discovered five outstanding warrants on Montgomery. Additional warrants were later secured for obstruction of an officer and no tag lights.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and the passenger walked home, according to the report.
