Fred Morris Jr., 78, of Carriage Trace, Cartersville, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012.

Mr. Morris was born May 18, 1933 in Bartow County, the son of the late Fred and Frances (Davis) Morris, was a retired U.S. Marine veteran, having served in Vietnam, was a member of the C.H.V.A. car club and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Christine Hale and three brothers, Thomas, David and Bobby.

Surviving is his wife, Brenda Morris of Cartersville; step-son, Darrell and his wife Rashel of Dallas; two step-grandsons, Corbin and Braedin Freeland, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 8, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Fisher officiating.

Burial will follow in Georgia National Cemetery with full military rites.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5 to 9 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Freeland, Allen Benson, Fred Morris, Tony Romano, Cubby Powell and Don Windsor.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the CHVA Car Club.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like for contributions to be made to DAV Chapter 6, 995 Roswell St., Marietta GA 30060.
