Gov. Nathan Deal, GEMA Director Charlie English and Rep. Christian Coomer, along with other officials and guests, will attend the presentation of the state’s first Praise and Preparedness certification to the Adairsville Church of God at 11 a.m. on Jan. 31. The presentation, which will be made at the Adairsville Church of God, will reflect on the recovery efforts that have transformed the community in the year since an EF-4 tornado touched down and decimated parts of Adairsville and Gordon County.
The event is open to the public and anyone who had any part in the recovery effort is asked to attend and be recognized.
Coomer said, “The way the people in and around Adairsville, Bartow County and Gordon County came together to respond to this tragedy is an example of what good can come when people reach out and help one another. In times of real need, I would not want to live anywhere else than right here in Northwest Georgia.”
