Golfer vies for last spot in USGA Senior Amateur Qualifier

A Bartow County golfer is among the 85 players vying for the five remaining spots up for grabs at the USGA Senior Amateur Qualifier.

Larry Clark of Kingston is to participate in the qualifier for the 2013 USGA Senior Amateur Championship, which will be held by the Georgia State Golf Association on Monday.

The Brickyard at Riverside in Macon will host 85 players competing over 18 holes for five spots and two alternate positions into the championship.

Clark is scheduled for a 9:42 a.m. start.

The 59th USGA Senior Amateur Championship will be held at Wade Hampton Golf Club in Cashiers, N.C., September 21-26, with a starting field of 156 players.

Entries were open to amateurs who will have reached their 55th birthday on or before September 21, and who have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 7.4. The USGA Senior Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
