Both the CD and brochure are free and may be picked up at the Cartersville-Bartow County Visitor Information Center inside the Clarence Brown Conference Center at 5450 Georgia Highway 20 in Cartersville. The local Convention & Visitors Bureau also has produced a companion brochure with additional history on Great Locomotive Chase sites within Bartow County.
The Great Chase Sesquicentennial CD audio tour, produced by the Georgia Department of Economic Development, invites visitors to follow the great chase beginning in Marietta and ending in Ringgold with an estimated drive-time of three hours. Visitors also may wish to have a copy of The Great Locomotive Chase brochure, which includes photographs of key sites, a map and driving directions.
To commemorate the Civil War sesquicentennial, the Cartersville-Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau has printed The Blue & Gray in Bartow. This free brochure includes history on pivotal Civil War events that took place in Bartow County, notes eight Civil War sites to discover and reminds visitors of more than 10 sesquicentennial events taking place in 2012.
The Cartersville-Bartow County Visitor Information Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents and visitors may stop in for free copies of the CD and brochures, as well as information on more than 300 Georgia attractions and destinations. Visitors also may access the driving tour online at www.GACivilWar.org.
