Following his breakthrough junior season, Jamieson has been selected to participate in the Junior Sunbelt Classic in McAlester, Okla., for the 16th annual tournament, which is scheduled to begin today and end Wednesday, June 13.
The Heartland Baseball Classic, in Norman, Okla., follows the junior tourney. The senior tourney will be from Monday, June 18, to Saturday, June 23. Tyler Gates, a former Cass player, is to appear in that game after playing in last year's Junior Sunbelt Classic.
The opportunity to play in either tournament is one only a handful of players get to experience, so the burgeoning Cartersville star was fully appreciative.
"I was very excited to get the opportunity to go represent my school, community and state. I was honored to be considered as one of the top 20 juniors in the state," Jamieson said. "I'm really looking forward to playing with an elite group of boys against some of the best players in the country."
Canes coach Stuart Chester noted that Jamieson won't soon see a better collection of talent.
"He's gonna go against some of the best baseball players in the country," Chester said. "You'll see, one through nine, batters that are the best from the team that they came from. ... Every time he steps out there in the batter's box, he's gonna see a No. 1 guy [pitching on the mound].
"It's a great opportunity [for him] to show his talent and to represent us and our baseball program."
A first-time varsity starter in 2012, Jamieson tied for the Cartersville lead in hits, with 42 in 95 at bats for an average of .442 -- which was second on the team behind Michael Goss. He drove in a team-high 38 RBIs and tied for second in both home runs and doubles, with four and 12, respectively.
He acknowledged he didn't foresee such a season unfolding months ago.
"Going into my junior year, I honestly was just battling for a spot on the field and I happened to make the most of my opportunities," Jamieson added.
That he did, and ready or not, Jamieson figures to hear from a multitude of coaches and recruiting coordinators during the upcoming months, a natural step for one of the better up-and-coming players in the area and state.
"This summer, so far, has been a blast and I'm just trying to do all I can to be able to play at the next level," Jamieson admitted.
With a lot set to change for Jamieson, the Cartersville native plans to make the most of his trip to the Midwest -- a trip he hopes ends with a title.
"After the first workout with the team and meeting these guys for the first time, I think we have the talent to compete in Oklahoma and hopefully come back with a ring," he said.
The hustle and bustle of this summer should properly prepare Jamieson for next season when he will be counted on as one of the leaders for a returning state quarterfinalist.
"It'll definitely show him the level of baseball that he needs to be at. Being around successful players will give you the chance to see the chemistry you need for success," Chester said. "It's definitely gonna make an impression on him that he can bring back and enforce with our guys."
"Hopefully this [summer] will prepare not only me but all of our returning varsity players for our senior season," Jamieson added, "because playing for Cartersville and being the best team in the state has been a dream that we have all had since we were in Little League watching and looking up to the high school team."
Led by coaches Wayne Vickery (Gainesville), Jamie Corr (Lambert), Dave McDonald (Mount Paran) and David Smart (Northside-Warner Robbins), Jamieson and Team Georgia open play today against Team Colorado, scheduled for 11:30 a.m., and Team Gold, scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
