Mrs. Jessie Ruth Gravley, 67, of Cartersville, widow of the late Jimmy Carlton Gravley, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Redmond Regional Hospital. A native of Bartow County, born Feb. 24, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Jessie “Bud” Holcomb and the late Bertha Adcock Holcomb. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed watching the Falcons play football.

Survivors include her sister, Shirley Holcomb Turner of Cartersville; her special cousin who was like a sister, Joan Wright of Cartersville; her nephew, Danny Turner; her great-nephews, Justin and Alex Turner; her great-great-niece, Bella Turner; and several other cousins and relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Benny Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Hayes Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Justin and Alex Turner, Melvin Bagley, David Ballard, and Doyle and Dearl Adcock. Benny Moss, Buddy Adcock, Gene Powell, Ronnie Cantrell, Harold Beaver, Roy King, Randall Abernathy and R.C. King will be serving as honorary pallbearers.

Flowers will be accepted, and the family suggests that those who wish may make donations to the American Cancer Society, 1256 North Cobb Parkway, Suite 102, Marietta, GA 30062-2420, in memory of Ruth.
