Woman foils scam attempt

A woman who refused to become a victim of fraud a second time reported the attempt to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office on Monday. A deputy was dispatched to a Valley View Drive residence, in reference to harassing phone calls.

The complainant said she received phone calls from an unknown female stating she had won $2.5 million. The female asked the complainant to send her a check for $250 to receive the money.

However, the complainant refused to send the money; she told the female that she had already sent $150 in April to International Global Sweepstakes. The complainant told the deputy she wanted to file a report so that no one else would be scammed.
