L.H. Padgett, 82, of Robin Hood Road, Rome, formerly of Cartersville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011.

Mr. Padgett was born Aug. 23, 1928 in Toombs County, the son of the late Mary Jane and Freeman L. Padgett, was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict, was a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W. and a was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving is his wife, Sue Soules-Padgett of Rome, children, Diane Carter of Cartersville, Karen Breazeale of Alpharetta, Paul Padgett, Linda and Ted Hicks of Cartersville and Barbara and Dennis Chapman of Alpharetta, grandchildren, Brian Denton, Heather Eidson, David Padgett, Shannon West-Vogelsang, Sheree West-Tanner, Kimberly Tallant, Mitchell Wheeler, Amie Lara and Rachel Gaddis, a number of great grandchildren, two sisters, one brother and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Dr. Don Hattaway officiating.

Entombment will follow in Pine Ridge Memorial Park in Kennesaw.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday afternoon and evening from 4 until 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Brian Vogelsang, Michael Tanner, Ted Hicks, David Hicks, Jeff McHugh and Brian Denton.
