Woodland kept pressing for that equalizing goal in the second half Monday, but it was not to be as it was the Rome Lady Wolves who scored that half to preserve their 4-2 win.

The one goal loss eliminated Woodland from earning a trip to the 5-AAAAA region playoffs.

“We just couldn’t get that tying goal,” said Woodland coach Kyle Morgan.

The Lady Wildcatss did get two goals from Keri Cagle and Destiny Wood in the first half.

The Lady Wolves led though, 3-2, entering the second half.

“We just made too many mistakes that first half,” Morgan said.

Rome clinched the fourth seed and a playoff berth with a goal at the five minute mark of the second half.

Although elminated from the playoffs, Woodland still has region games remaining against South Paulding at home on Wednesday and at Hiram on Friday.

In other soccer matches, both Cartersville boys and girls teams defeated North Murray.
