Something feels awfully familiar about Wednesday's matchup between the Cartersville Lady Purple Hurricanes and Oconee County Lady Warriors.

That's because the two teams — who square off at 6 p.m. — are meeting for the second consecutive year as the No. 2 and No. 3 teams from their respective regions to determine which one advances in the girls high school state playoffs.

Last year Oconee County moved on after administering a 66-44 whipping in the Storm Center on the Cartersville campus. Oconee brought a 23-7 record to the Storm Center as well as a 10-2 record in Region 8B-AA. That contrasted with the Canes 21-7, 9-3 region record.

The Lady Warriors stayed in the playoffs exactly one more game, when they were defeated by Columbia.
