Saturday morning at the Bartow County Republican Headquarters, Tracy Lewis announced her candidacy for the position of Bartow County Commissioner.

"This decision ... has been in the making for many years," Lewis said during her speech. "It's something I felt the nudge and the calling to do. Over the past couple of years through much prayer and many friends support and anointings it has been confirmed over and over again that I am doing the right thing. God has shown favor on my life and now I am asking for the people of Bartow County to show favor to me through your prayers, your support, and ultimately your vote. So I would like to submit my name, Tracy Lewis as a candidate for Bartow County Commissioner."

Before her speech, Lewis was introduced to the crowd by her father, Dean Lewis. Tracy Lewis was born in White and attended Cass High School.

"I bleed Bartow," Lewis said during her speech. "I would not leave for a job, for a boyfriend, for whatever. This is where I belong, where I've been blessed to be raised and where I want to be for the rest of my life."

She graduated from Berry College in 1988 with a Business Administration degree with a double minor in Psychology and Economics.

"I have ran numerous businesses on a business model," she said after her announcement speech. "My longest one is 23 years with FasTrak Delivery and Warehouse [Inc.] where I had many clients from your small business on Main Street to Fortune 100 companies. I have been the piece of the puzzle that they needed to get their needs delivered on time. Running on a business model is what I plan to do."

Lewis also is a chairwoman at the Cartersville-Bartow Chamber of Commerce and the Bartow Executive Women Founder.

"My goal is to get more people back to work, get jobs in here through economic development, through getting industry back in here, high tech jobs, and getting our builders and developers back to work.

"I want to help my neighbors and my friends," she said. "I want to serve, I want to be a public servant. I feel like I've done that over the years through my career and now I'm ready to step up to the plate and serve in the capacity of the county commissioner."
