For local clubs like Cledus T's Hick-Hop and Honkytonk and Club Elixir, Cartersville's night life will be in full effect tonight as revelers ring in the new year.
Cledus T's, named for country music artist and co-owner Cledus T. Judd, will host Babe's Bayou tonight. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the party will continue until 2 a.m. DJ K.C. South will perform between sets.
Co-owner Doug Roberson sees New Year's celebrations as a chance to put away the worries of life for a time and think optimistically about the year to come.
"It's a chance for everybody to come out and reflect on the past year and put all the good or the bad behind them for 2010, looking forward to 2011. It's a way to kick off 2011 with some optimism," Roberson said.
He has seen economic woes lay heavy upon local residents and added that with current trends, now is a good time to embrace the holiday spirit with friends and music.
"You can come out and have fun, that's what we're going to promote here. With the way the economy has effected everybody, just put all that behind them and look forward to 2011. It's a chance to socialize and dance and mix with everybody," Roberson said.
Random door prizes will be given throughout the night with a champagne toast to be held at midnight. The club now boasts an enlarged dance floor, additional seating, a modified sound system and new dance floor lighting.
Admission is $15 and guests must be 21 or older. For more information, call 770-386-4441. Cledus T's is located at 1131 N. Tenn. St. in Cartersville next to Carmike Cinemas.
