Filing a stolen vehicle report with local law enforcement is never a happy occasion and for Adventure Jeeps, the meetings with officers has become an all too frequent event.

"It's never been this bad," the dealership's owner William "Bill" Graham said. "We had locations in Marietta and Woodstock and didn't have as much happen there."

Graham's lot, located at 1225 Joe Frank Harris Parkway, has seen a high volume of activity since July with at least five reports filed with the Bartow County Sheriff's Office. In those reports, Graham has been the victim of property damage and vehicle theft.

Three Jeep Wranglers have been taken from the lot by illegal means. Only one has been recovered.

"We sell used jeeps," Graham said. "The models still missing are 2004 and have a combined value of [over] $25,000."

Graham's dealership has a fenced area behind the lot, where he says the vehicles are now being moved to every evening to deter crime. The fence has been damaged when, Graham said, someone may have tried to steal a boat.

Along with the three vehicle, Graham has reported a trailer and five radios stolen as well. Investigators have looked into the case and have shared unfortunate news with the owner.

"There's no video footage to work from," BCSO Investigator Jonathan Rogers said. "He needs cameras. All we can do is enter the vehicles onto the GCIC (Georgia Crime Information Center) and hope they are found."

Rogers said that as part of their daily routine, patrol deputies look for stolen vehicles and stop when they see one abandoned. Residents also are encouraged to keep their eyes open and call law enforcement if they see a vehicle that could be stolen or if anything appears suspicious.
