FIREFLY NIGHTS -- In the summer of 2009, Barnsley Gardens Resort (www.barnsleyresort.com) created a fun new summer event named Firefly Nights. It will continue Saturday, July 17 this year. This event includes dancing under the stars, live romantic music, and cocktails in the Ruins. The event is free of charge. There will be a cash bar for beverages.

JUNIOR RANGER CAMP -- Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site -- 813 Indian Mounds Road in Cartersville -- will hold a Junior Ranger Camp Wednesday, June 23, to Friday, June 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Eight to 12-year-olds can earn a Junior Ranger Badge as they participate in activities such as storytelling, dig boxes, games, and clay and copper crafts. Along with entertainment throughout the night, Friday's festivities will include be a survivor's reception from 5 to 7 p.m.; opening ceremony and survivor's lap and caregivers' lap at 7 p.m.; and a luminary service at 9:30 p.m. The event will wrap up Saturday at 9 a.m. with the closing ceremonies.
