The condition of 33-year-old Robert Vaughn of Cartersville is improving after being diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, otherwise known as flesh-eating bacteria. According to Doctors Hospital in Augusta, he is in serious condition -- a step below critical.
Vaughn said the trouble began on Friday, May 4, when working at his home in Cartersville. He said his recollection of the events are fuzzy because the onset of the illness happened so quickly.
