In Adairsville Kenneth “K.C.” Carson is facing off against Lee Castro to represent Adairsville City Council Post 3. Both Carson and Castro are new candidates in the runoff, as incumbent Connie Morrow did not make it past the Nov. 5 general election.
Carson received 143 votes, or 37.83 percent of the vote, while Castro saw 120, or 31.75 percent of the vote, in the general election.
The polling location for Adairsville voters is the Manning Mill Park Facility at 163-B Manning Mill Road, Adairsville.
The second runoff election will decide who represents state Senate District 14 in the Georgia Legislature. District 14 covers most of Cherokee County, part of Bartow County and a small section of Cobb County.
Matt Laughridge and Bruce Thompson are the two candidates left standing for the runoff election. Both candidates are from Bartow County. Laughridge works as an executive for his family’s business, the Terry Reid dealership organization. Thompson owns an Allstate insurance office in Cartersville, among other businesses. Both men are running as Republicans.
In Bartow County, Laughridge received 811 votes, or 33.86 percent, while Thompson received 1,033 votes, or 43.13 percent.
Bartow County residents living in District 14 will be able to vote at the Bartow County Elections Office at 105 N. Bartow St., Cartersville.
