Man arrested for throwing pizza at former spouse

A Bartow County Sheriff's deputy reported to a residence on Westwood Lane Sunday night in reference to simple battery and terroristic threats.

After arriving on the scene, the complaintant advised the deputy that her ex-husband threw a piece of pizza at her striking her on the left thigh. The deptuy's report confirmed a stain on the leg of her pajamas.

The complainant reported that her ex-husband, Gary Edward Edmondson, then threatened to kill her.

Edmondson was arrested and charged simple battery under the Family Violence Act. He was not charged for terroristic acts or threats due to insufficient witnesses.

Cartersville man arrested for suspected drug money

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are holding two men after authorities discovered suspected drug money hidden in their vehicle.

According to reports, Lamar County Sheriff's Office deputies seized suspected drug money from a hidden compartment in a car on Interstate 75 last week. Lamar County is in south Georgia near Americus.

Abraham Vasquez Garcia, 33, of Cartersville and Santos Urizar, 32, of Rome, are being held for ICE agents.

Home invasion nabs Christmas gifts

A burglary at a Cartersville apartment complex on Ridge Row Drive occurred Saturday night or early Sunday morning as nearly $1,000 in property was taken from the residence.

Items removed from the home included Christmas gifts in addition to a Playstation 2 game console, a surround sound system and approximately 15 Polo shirts. The resident also reported that his checkbook had been tampered with.

Foot marks were found on the front door from forced entry. Witnesses reported observing three thin white males carrying items down the stairs to a brown four-door car at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
