The Bartow County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Cobb County man in connection with a reported rape.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, investigators were called in to assist in a burglary and rape reported in Cartersville on July 2 in which the victim reportedly knew the suspect.

Millsap said authorities arrested Dustin James Brookshire, 23, of Acworth on Monday and charged him with rape and burglary. He was booked into the Bartow County Jail, where he remains.

At a bond hearing Tuesday morning, a magistrate judge denied setting bond and referred the case to Superior Court for bond and arraignment at a later date.
