A local man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a June 17 shots-fired incident in the area of Benefield Circle.

In a press release, Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap said Byron Orlando Saddler, 46, of 14 Jordan Road, Cartersville, was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal damage to property, felony reckless conduct, criminal trespass and stalking.

Around 4:30 p.m. that Thursday, deputies were called to the area of Village Drive in reference to several shots being fired and a suspicious white Chevrolet Suburban in front of an Evergreen Trail home, according to the incident report.

The alleged victim had discovered two gun shot holes in the trunk of his 2001 Cadillac Deville, which damaged a stereo, but reported he was not in the car at the time the shots were fired.

A witness reported the man driving the Suburban then pulled up to the Evergreen Trail residence, kicked the door open and told a female to get in the truck. That witness obtained the tag number, and a "be on the lookout" was issued by authorities.

The release says investigators allegedly were able to link the two incidents to Saddler and he was arrested following a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon.

Woman reports chemical burns to her dog

An Acworth woman Wednesday reported someone poured a chemical on her dog, causing injuries which led to surgery.

According to the BCSO incident report, the incident at a North Main Street home occurred Monday between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The woman said when she returned home, the dog had been taken off its runner with the collar intact. The next two days, the dog's skin on its back and neck turned black and appeared to be infected.

Animal hospital personnel confirmed the injury was the result of a chemical burn, and performed surgery.

The alleged victim told deputies she believes the dog was intentionally released from the runner and tortured.
