A Marietta man was discovered deceased in an Emerson residence Saturday morning.

The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office report said 46-year-old Timothy Buck suffered a gunshot wound behind his right ear while visiting the home at 35 Harvest Way.

The resident said Buck came over after work Friday night “to hang out.” The pair went to pick up the resident’s children to stay just before 7 p.m.

According to the resident, he fell asleep about midnight and went to find Buck at 7 a.m. so the two could drop off Buck’s truck for repairs. The man said he found Buck sitting in a chair near a window, and when he went to rouse Buck, the resident noticed he was cool and “a little stiff.”

The resident said there were no arguments the night before and Buck had not mentioned any problems with anyone.

No weapon was found at the scene and no suspects were identified in the report.

Motorcyclist killed in crash

A motorcyclist died after crashing in Cobb County while fleeing from a Georgia State Patrol trooper.

The Georgia State Patrol said the motorcyclist died Monday at Kennestone Hospital after crashing into a tree at the intersection of Baker and Jacobean roads in Kennesaw.

Anthony Todd Cleveland, 24, had originally been pursued in Bartow County. The trooper began chasing the man around 1 a.m. but lost sight of the bike before the crash occurred.

Man allegedly robbed at Kangaroo station

A man claimed he was robbed Sunday morning in front of the Kangaroo Express at 898 Joe Frank Harris Parkway.

The man told BCSO deputies another male asked to borrow $20 and promised to return the money. Shortly after the complainant gave the suspect the money, the suspect returned to the area, entered the complainant’s vehicle and demanded all of his money. While placing the money in his sock, the suspect dropped a baggy of suspected cocaine and fled.

Originally, the complainant said he met with Cartersville police, but stated they accused him of being part of a drug deal.

The person who answered the phone number provided to law enforcement said the suspect was not there.

Large group fight results in two arrests

About 40 to 50 people were involved in a fight outside Elixir Sports Bar just before 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to police reports, a Marcus Aimes allegedly initiated the fight, which later escalated as people attempted to break up the original argument that moved to the parking lot.

A Bartow deputy arrived and attempted to detain Aimes, but he continued trying to fight. While the deputy struggled with him, four others in the crowd, including the offender’s brother, Whitney Ross, allegedly jumped onto the officer’s back. During this time, both the club’s security guard and the owner tried to pull the offenders off the deputy.

Once backup arrived, the deputy was able to break free of the subjects with the help of other deputies. The deputy made several attempts to place Aimes under arrest and eventually had to hit him with a round of OC pepper spray and then another to subdue him. Aimes and his brother, Whitney Ross, were then handcuffed and taken into custody and transported to the Bartow County Jail.
