Two arrested after traffic stop reveals drugs

A Cartersville police officer arrested two men Tuesday after stopping a car for a windshield violation.

According to the officer's report, the 1991 Acura Integra was stopped on Parr Wade Road where the driver said he did not have a valid license. The driver, Ricky Leray Chambers, was moved to the rear of the vehicle and placed under arrest for driving with a suspended license.

Bartow County 911 advised the officer that the tag on the car was returning to a Toyota Celica. When asked, Chambers consented to a search of the vehicle. During the search, the officer located a silver box on the key ring containing eight suspected Hydrocodone, along with a cigarette pack containing 11 suspected Ambien. A syringe was discovered between the passenger's seat and door.

The passenger -- John Shannon Turk -- was then placed under arrest and charged with possession of a schedule III narcotic and possession of schedule IV narcotic.

A continued search of the vehicle revealed a stolen laptop, digital scales and suspected methamphetamine.

Chambers was arrested and charged with possession of tools for the commission of crime, affixing license plate with intent to misrepresent, theft by receiving stolen property, no insurance, driving with suspended license, windshields and windshield wipers, two counts of possession of synthetic narcotic in violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and drugs to be kept in original container.

Driver points gun at another motorist

A driver reportedly pointed a gun at a second motorist he was passing Tuesday on Interstate 75.

The complainant stated that as he was driving north on the interstate a blue passenger car kept riding his bumper before finally passing him. The man said he motioned for the other driver to "slow down," but the driver was angry, reaching into the passenger floorboard to retrieve a gun, which he pointed at the complainant.

The tag number obtained by the complainant did not match the description provided.
