According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, deputies were dispatched to Joe Frank Harris Parkway near Adairsville at 1:42 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a physical domestic dispute. The victim’s ex-husband had left the scene prior to the first deputy’s arrival. The victim told deputies that her husband had kicked in the front door and a physical fight ensued between them. The suspect left after taking a pistol away from the victim.
A back-up deputy located the suspect driving on Cass White Road and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect continued at a high speed onto Interstate 75 northbound from Cass White Road. About one mile north of Cass White Road, the suspect’s vehicle suddenly struck a roadside guardrail and came to a stop. Deputies approached the vehicle and discovered the suspect slumped over the steering wheel with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his head. He was taken by EMS to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.
