Staff Report

A Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was dispatched Monday afternoon to the Bartow County Solid Waste Facility at 4782 Joe Frank Harris Parkway in response to stolen metal and property damage.

The site attendant said, according to the report, “a large amount” of metal was stolen from the metal bin. The phone lines leading to the blockhouse at the site also had been cut.

After walking the fence line, the deputy saw that fence ties had been cut in order to enter the property. There also was an empty space “in what otherwise would be a full metal bin,” according to the report. The deputy also saw where three telephone wires had been “slashed.”

As no one was seen on the property while it was closed, the suspect is still unknown. The damages to the property totaled $160 to repair the fence and phone lines, while the metal was valued at $50.
