Motorcyclist injured and air lifted to hospital after striking guard rail

A motorcyclist was air lifted Saturday to Atlanta Medical Center after a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 75, Georgia State Patrol troopers say.

The northbound motorist traveled into the median around 10:20 a.m. at mile marker 281, and struck the guard wire.

At press time, troopers at the Cartersville post could not provide further information on the crash that stifled traffic for some time. They also had not yet identified the driver.

911 call leads to arrest of man wanted for armed robbery

A man wanted in Cherokee County for armed robbery and counterfeiting offenses was arrested by Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputies Friday as the result of an anonymous 911 call.

According to the incident report, someone called to report several people fighting in the roadway at 5659 Groover's Landing Road.

When deputies arrived, an allegedly men reported that an unknown muscular male with tattoos pointed a gun at him, threatened to kill him and exited into the woods on a bicycle.

Deputies arrested the alleged victim, Thomas Edward Kilgore, 48, of 5659 Groover's Landing Road, Acworth, after a check of his identity showed active warrants through Cherokee County. Kilgore was arrested on the armed robbery and counterfeiting warrants.

Another allegedly intoxicated male deputies encountered with Kilgore reported a third intoxicated man had asked to borrow a truck, and threatened to fight when he was told no.

Kilgore's companion also reported seeing the unknown male approach Kilgore, but did not see a weapon.
