Downtown Cartersville welcomes Myke Carroll and Arc Light to the first Downtown Summer Concert this Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. The band's sound ranges from rock, hard rock and electric blues to big band and jazz.

The Summer Concert Series, hosted by the Cartersville Downtown Development Authority, runs through August on the first Saturday of each month. The entertainment lineup is June 4, The Tams; July 2, Parrot Island Band; and Aug. 6, Babe's Bayou. At Saturday's concert, caterer Chef Frankie B's will be on-site.

"We've had lots of calls about our concert and car show series," said Liz Hood, DDA executive director. "This year's lineup features a great rock and roll band this weekend, the fabulous Tams in June, a favorite Jimmy Buffet tribute band with Parrot Island Band in July, and then we end the season with Babe's Bayou, a local favorite."

Joining the concert series is the Tom Clayton Memorial Car Cruize, sponsored by Advance Auto Parts, beginning at 5 p.m. The entry fee for classic cars is $2, which makes participants eligible for door prize drawings and the People's Choice Award.

"Advance Auto Parts came on board last year as a sponsor and has really helped us market the car show to 'car guys' through their stores," Hood said. "They add to the fun of the evening by having great door prizes to give away each month."

Admission to the concert is free, but those attending are invited to drop off canned goods at the Welcome Center at the Train Depot to assist victims of the recent tornado. Food received will be distributed by Queen Chapel Independent Methodist in Kingston and North Bartow Community Services in Adairsville.

A limited number of concert tables seating six still are available for the Saturday concert and may be reserved in advance by contacting the Cartersville DDA at 770-607-3480.
