"[Winning] feels great," smiled Cartersville Elementary School fifth-grader A.J. Scott after placing first in one of the 200-meter dash competitions. "I feel like a champ."
Of the schools represented, nine were elementary schools.
Adairsville High School Exceptional Education instructor and event coordinator LaVonna Frady said the Special Olympics have been held in Bartow County since the early 2000s, with AHS hosting for the last five years.
