Bartow County Fire Department Battalion Chief Bryan Cox examines the cab of a burned utility truck Monday about 5:45 p.m. while firefighter Joe Slye looks on. The truck’s driver said the vehicle began running hot and sparking at the red light on Ga. Highway 20 at the southbound on-ramp to Interstate 75. The man pulled the vehicle into the former Michael’s barbecue restaurant on Ga. Highway 20 where the engine compartment caught fire. Cox said the blaze was caused by a mechanical failure on the driver’s side of the front end. BCFD Station 1 worked the fire; no injuries were reported.
