The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a local man in connection with remains found last week in Kingston that are believed to belong to a missing man.

Jason Daniel Poston, 30, of Cartersville, was arrested at the State Probation Office Friday morning in connection with the case, according to a Bartow County Sheriff’s Office release.

The case began when the family of Michael Allen McIntyre reported him missing from his Cartersville home on May 24 — he was last seen May 18. Investigators discovered a body — believed to be that of McIntyre — on May 30 on rural farm property in Kingston.

Investigators believe Poston had assistance from at least one other person in hiding and disposing of the body on the property. More arrests are expected.

Poston is charged with concealing the death of another person, abandonment of a dead body and probation violation. He was being held without bond Friday afternoon.

BCSO Sgt. Jonathan Rogers said Poston may appear in front of a magistrate judge this morning, but he will go to a probation revocation hearing prior to release for an appearance.
