Slushie man robbed at gunpoint

It's a sad day when suspects rob a truck selling flavored icy treats.

According to a Bartow County Sheriff's Office report, a slushie truck driver was flagged down just before 7 p.m. on Gilreath Road by two black men flashing their lights and waving.

The man told deputies he stopped near the intersection of Gilreath and Peeples Valley Road because he thought they wanted a drink.

He said the shorter of the pair approached him, pulled a handgun and said, "Give me the money." The suspect held the gun against the victim's stomach, according to the report.

The man said he handed over a bag of cash and the suspects left in the direction onto Peeples Valley.

Cold case: Man struck with package of beer

In the early morning hours Sunday, a man said he was struck in the head with a case of beer.

According to a Cartersville police report, a Townsley Drive resident said his brother-in-law had hit him above the left eye with the package of alcohol. He suffered a visible laceration.

Police located the suspect -- Manuel Moreno -- at his home and asked him why he struck the victim, to which he replied, "I don't know."

Moreno was arrested and charged with battery under the Family Violence Act.
