According to Bartow County Fire Department, the female driver of a passenger car traveling west around noon said she swerved to avoid a dog when she lost control.
BCFD said the accident, which occurred at 5580 Highway 20, struck a gas meter, sheering it off at the ground.
Highway 20 was closed for about 30 minutes, according to BCFD Station 1, until Cartersville Gas could place a cap on the line.
