The man struck and killed late Saturday afternoon was identified by authorities.

About 5:20 p.m. Saturday, Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the CSX tracks in the area of Sugar Valley Road near Cassville Road. The railroad reported that a train had hit a pedestrian walking his dog on the train tracks.

The pedestrian was identified as Donald Eugene Brock, 44, of Cartersville. The train sounded its horn several times to warn Brock of it’s approach, according to a BCSO release, but Brock did not respond to the warning.

Attempts were made to resuscitate Brock but were not successful. Brock was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Cartersville Medical Center, pending an autopsy by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner.
