Padres 5, Crackers 2
Strong pitching by Blake Stover was the major factor in the Padres’ 5-2 victory over the Crackers. Stover pitched 5 2/3 innings, throwing 88 pitches and striking out 11. Brant Smith came in on relief to get the final out for the Padres in only five pitches. Providing the offensive support for Stover and the Padres was Jaylen Knowles, who tripled, walked, drove in two, and scored two runs. Stover and Dadrian Davis each had a hit, walked and scored a run. Seth Porter’s lone hit drove in a run. Drawing walks were Smith and Kurtis Feanny. Jesse Martin scored one of the Padres’ five runs.
For the Crackers, Will Noble and Jacob Daniel each had a hit and scored a run. Aiden Shea’s lone hit drove in one run. Chase Horn, Titus Jones and Ben Ammons had one hit each. Jones, Shea and Ammons also pitched an inning. Jones struck out one and threw 16 pitches. Ammons had a strikeout and threw 19 pitches. Shea and Charles Heidmann each threw a dozen pitches in one inning of work. Jordyn Mitchell struck out two and threw 29 pitches in his one inning stint.
Tigers 4, Colts 3
Strike outs and strong pitching ruled the day in the Tigers’ 4-3 win over the Colts. The Tigers’ Garrett Shelton and Gage Morris combined for 15 strikeouts and 112 pitches. Shelton went the first four innings before Morris came on to pitch the final two innings. Thacker struck out 10 and threw 83 pitches in five innings.
After three scoreless innings, the Colts took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth on Thacker’s single and walks to LaDarius Winburn and Jonah Gambill. Thacker scored on a bases-loaded walk to Logan Cagle. Winburn and Gambill each scored on pitches that got by the Tigers’ catcher. The Tigers threatened to score again in the bottom of the fourth, as Brady Evans and Shelton lead off with back-to-back singles. But Evans and Shelton were left stranded as Thacker struck out the next three Tiger hitters.
The Tigers took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Jake Cooper Gooch was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a groundout by Jacob Desmond, stole third, and then scored on a sacrifice bunt by Tyler Gamble. Micah Tart was hit by a pitch, and Evans reached base on a miscue after striking out. Shelton, who had two hits and scored a run, then hit a three-run home run.
The Colts Kaison Williams and Kabel Chatmon each had a hit and a walk.
Braves 20, Indians 6
The Braves had a game of a lifetime, as they exploded for 20 runs on 22 hits by 12 different players in their 20-6 victory over the Indians.
Byers Murray had three hits, including a double and triple, drove in four RBIs and scored twice. Cody Edwards had three hits and scored a run. Baylor Agan came through with three hits, one of which was double, drove in two and scored twice. Trey Holstein had two hits, walked once, drove in two and score three times. Eoin Neal had two hits, two RBIs and scored twice. Austin Baker also had two hits, walked and scored three runs. Thomas Murphy had two hits as well and drove in one. Kolby Adams had a hit and scored once. Jesse Grogan had a double, two walks, two runs scored and an RBI. Preston Welchel had one hit to go along with his walk and two runs scored. Hayes Miller had one hit, two RBIs and scored a run. Donavan Harrison closed out the Braves’ onslaught with one hit and a run scored.
Welchel and Murray combined to struck out 11 Indians. Welchel went four innings, throwing 74 pitches and striking out seven. Murray pitched two innings, throwing 39 pitches and striking out four.
Peyton Willoughby and Noah Davis led the Indians hitters. Willoughby had two hits, scored once and drove in a run. Davis had two hits and had one RBI. Chris Davis and Carter Owen each had a hit, scored once and an RBI. Dalton Henson had one hit, a walk and a run scored. Brady Burson had a hit and scored once. Brendon Walker was hit by a pitch and scored a run. Dalton walked with the bases loaded for his lone RBI.
Willoughby pitched two innings, throwing 57 pitches and striking out three. Chris Davis lasted two innings, having thrown 52 pitches to go along with his six strikeouts. Noah Davis struck out three and threw 41 pitches in one inning. Walker also pitched one inning, striking out one and throwing 26 pitches.
Phillies 10 Dodgers 1
Three pitchers held the Dodgers to just one hit and three runs in the Phillies 10-1 victory. Blaine Belisario went three innings, struck out five and threw 48 pitches. Karson Hornberger had three strikeouts and threw 41 pitches in two innings. Jordan Wells went an inning, striking out one and throwing 17 pitches. While the trio were silencing the Dodgers’ bats, the Phillies’ Jordan Wells was hammering out two hits, two of which were doubles, driving in three and scoring two runs. Luke Schiltz had a triple, a double, a walk, scored once and drove in a run. Derrick Pearson singled, doubled and scored a run. Gavin Geros singled, doubled, walked, scored once and drove in a run. Belisario had one hit, walked and scored twice. Reece Thompson had a hit, reached on a walk and scored twice. Chanc Willis drove in a run with his hit.
Belisario pitched three innings for the Phillies, striking out five and throwing 48 pitches. Hornberger had three strikeouts and threw 41 pitches in two innings. Wells struck out one and threw 17 pitches in one inning.
The Dodgers’ managed to get a hit and walk from Tyler Dilcher; one hit each by Cole Crump and Crawford Taylor. Kaleb Chance walked twice.
Clay Ross, who had one hit, threw 77 pitches and struck out in four innings. Dover, who also drew a walk, struck out six and threw 62 pitches in two innings.
