Police respond to Rite Aid shoplifting

A Cartersville officer responded to a call Sunday regarding a shoplifting at Rite Aid on Joe Frank Harris Parkway. Upon arrival the officer spoke to the complainant/clerk who said a man walked in the store and took two cases of beer and walked out the business towards Zaxbys. The clerk said he attempted to stop the suspect but was unable to do so. He described the suspect as a black male, about 5 foot 8 inches tall, 140 lb., with a goatee, brown eyes, wearing a black jacket, tan pants and a gray beanie. The clerk said the beer totaled $42.

Lady damages gas pump

A Bartow County officer responded to the Marathon Gas Station located at on Cass White Road Sunday morning in reference to property damage.

The store clerk told the officer that an unknown white female weighing about 160 pounds and about 5 foot 6 inches tall with thick blonde curly hair damaged a gas pump by leaving the nozzle in he vehicle and driving off.

The clerk said the female pulled her gold SUV up to the pump and pre-paid $25 in gas. The female drove away from the pump with the nozzle still in her vehicle. The nozzle pulled completely off the gas pump and fell to the ground. The clerk said the female then stuck the broken nozzle into the gas pump and drove away from the store towards Interstate 75. The clerk said the license plate said "4WENDY" but she was unable to see which state the license plate was from.

Television taken from local business

A Cartersville officer responded to a call Sunday evening at West Porter St., M&S Appliance, in reference to a burglary. He met with the complainant who stated he left the business to take a shower next door. When he returned 30 minutes later the door had been damaged and someone had broken into the business taking a Samsung DLP 50 inch television worth $400. Photographs of the crime scene were taken by the officer.

Man arrested for battery

A Bartow County officer responded to a simple battery Family Violence Act call Sunday evening at 52 Shady Valley Drive.

The officer met with a female victim who said she was in a verbal argument with a male relative who grabbed her by the arm and pushed her against a vehicle. She said she then grabbed his eye glasses and threw them on the ground because he can't see far away. She said the male pushed the vehicle door causing it to strike her. The victim said her son stood between the two of them to try and prevent them from arguing. The officer asked if there were any marks or bruises and the victim said no. Another female witness said she observed the male push the victim against the car. The male was arrested and transported to Bartow County Jail.

Two women arrested for disorderly conduct

Cartersville Police responded to Galloway Drive Sunday night in reference to two females fighting at the residence. Upon arrival the officer met with the complainant/homeowner who said he had been dating one of the females for a few weeks. His girlfriend invited her friend to stay and they began fighting and cursing in front of two young children. He said he tried to break up the fight, but to no avail. The officer met with the second lady who was intoxicated and crying according to the officer's report. The lady told the officer her friend was having intimate relationship with her father and they got into a physical fight. The lady had marks on her face and stated that her friend did it. The friend was also intoxicated, the officer's report said, and also had marks on her neck and face and a bleeding bite mark on her left hand. Both were arrested and released to Bartow County intake officers. Neither wanted to press charges against each other.
