Voters in Bartow County are heading to the polls today to cast ballots in several area races and for one countywide item.

Residents across the county will decide today on a 2014 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. Municipalities around the county earlier this year voted on the measure and began submitting projects for funding.

In Cartersville, citizens also will vote on Sunday package sales and an extension of a one-cent sales tax.

Cartersville City School Board features two races - between Saunders Jones III and Linda Benton and the race between Clift Dempsey and Travis Popham.

The other races up for vote around the county include: mayor and council positions in Kingston; White City Council; Emerson City Council positions; Euharlee City Council seats.

Voters in Adairsville and Taylorsville will vote only on the 2014 SPLOST.

Polls are open until 7 p.m.
