According to City Manager Kevin McBurnett, the proposed change would establish "a district named (MU-2) Mixed Use - LakePoint. It is a district that is site-specific for LakePoint."
The Planning and Zoning Commission tonight will hold a first reading of the proposed amendment, with the council following suit in a regular meeting Monday, according to agendas for both meetings.
In addition, the commission -- and council -- will hold a first reading of an amendment to the zoning map, which would reflect the LakePoint property zoned as MU-2.
Two other items on tonight's agenda will have LakePoint connections -- two annexation and rezoning requests from Watkins Associated Developers Inc. for a total of 45.92 acres will have first readings.
The first is for 43.098 acres off Old Allatoona Dam Road currently zoned Agriculture to be rezoned as Mixed Use-2. The second request asks that 2.822 acres at 430 Joe Frank Harris Parkway currently zoned Agriculture be rezoned as Mixed Use-2.
McBurnett said, "Items 7 and 8 [the rezoning requests] are properties that are to be purchased by the developers of LakePoint and desire to be included under the new MU-2."
Also on the planning and zoning agenda is:
* A public hearing/second reading of an annexation request made by Danny and Carol M. Silvers for 5 acres located at 107 Sixth St., currently zoned Agriculture requesting zoning as Residential.
* A public hearing/second reading of an annexation request made by Danny and Carol M. Silvers for 1.067 acres located at 131 Sixth St., currently zoned Agriculture requesting zoning as Residential.
