Mr. King was born April 15, 1933, in Bartow County, son of the late Ralph B. King and Nancy Brown King, and was raised by John and Dellie Huskins. He was a U.S. Army Europe and Korean veteran; he served as a Bartow County Sheriff’s deputy for several years during the terms of Sheriff Jim Wheeler and Sheriff Buddy Bell. He retired from Lockheed, managed a number of restaurants and worked in security at Wal-Mart. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Jeannetta L. King.
Survivors include his son, Ralph (Gail) King, Jr.; grandchildren, Amberly (Chris) Miller, Mack (Morgan) King, all of Cartersville, and Jenny (Richard) Humphries of Haysville, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Breanna and Abby Hale; and very special friend, Ruth Cooley.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Melissa and Patricia of Heartland Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Huskins officiating. Interment will follow in Cassville Cemetery with military rites.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will include Mack King, Chris Miller, Richard Humphries, Bill Huskins, Joey Deems and David Phillips.
