Mr. Raymond "Ray" West , 82, of Kingston, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012, at his residence.

A native of Bartow County, Mr. West was born Nov. 2, 1929, to the late Rosa Millsap West. He is preceded in death by his mother; a son, Leon West; his sisters, Pauline Hyde and Eva Price; his brother, George West; and his brother-in-law and best friend, Felton Young.

Mr. West was a head trustee and member of Kingston Holiness Church since 1968. He retired from Union Carbide after 27 years of service. He enjoyed wood working and was a wonderful carpenter. Mr. West was a beloved husband, wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a great father-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Mamie Atkinson West of Kingston; his children, Jimmy West (Connie), Timmy West (Tina), Janie Porter, Debra Parker (Jessie), Patricia Byars and Barbara May (Larry), all of Kingston; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; his sister, Frances Young of Kingston; his brother, Robert West of Taylorsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Revs. Corey Herod, Jesse Parker and Grover Hilliard officiating. Interment will follow in the Kingston City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons, Tommy Porter, Shane Parker, Blake Byars, Brent West, Logan Herod and Dillon Herod.
