Quillian had retired from First Brands/Union Carbide but spent most of his life serving his calling to minister and preach. He had served as a missionary to Guatemala, and he had served as the pastor of Connesenna Baptist Church, Fellowship Baptist Church, and Peeples Valley Community Church. Quillian was currently serving as the pastor of Trinity Baptist Church.
Music was a big part of Quillian's life. Born into a musical family, the foundation for his love of music was established early. A 1959 graduate of Cass High School, he played the trumpet in the Cass High Band and served as the band drum major. He also sang in many quartets and loved southern gospel music. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and faithful follower of Christ, Quillian will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Fletcher Millsap; his daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Don Allred of Cartersville, Tonya and James Umphrey of Rome, and Karen and Ken Temples of Cartersville; his step-daughter, Lynn Sherman; his grandchildren, Heather Boliver, Katie Boliver, Ryan Umphrey, Hunter Umphrey, Kaleb Temples, Karlie Temples, and Katlyn Rose Temples; his brothers, Carlos Millsap and Claude Millsap; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2010 at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. David Franklin, Rev. Jerry Boston, and Rev. Chuck Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clark Millsap, Carey Millsap, Craig Millsap, Roger Millsap, Eric Millsap, Sam Millsap, and Mark Millsap. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. on Monday.
The family will receive friends from 4 - 8 p.m. Saturday and from 3 - 5 p.m. Sunday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
Quillian always said he wanted his roses sent to him while he was alive. He did not wish for friends to send flowers for his funeral, but requested instead that those who wish send memorial contributions to one of the children's hospitals.
