Samuel Thomas Phillips Sr., 85, passed away on Jan. 6, 2014, in Titusville, Fla. He was born on Aug. 23, 1928, in Fulton County, to Reynold and Alma Phillips. He retired as a chief master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force after serving 28 years. Following his military career, he retired from Lockheed Martin, Kennedy Space Center, Fla. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Port St. John, Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Phillips; son, Samuel Thomas Phillips Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Henry Tippins; grandsons, Evan Phillips and Henry Tippins; stepdaughter, Nicole Silk and her children, Chelsea and Brennen; sister, Mary Lee Weaver; brother, William Phillips; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family may visit from 12:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. funeral at the chapel of Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville.
