Search warrant uncovers stolen items

Officers of the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 27 Walker St. in Cartersville at 6 p.m. Tuesday for the purpose of locating illegal drugs and possible stolen merchandise. Intelligence received by the DTF indicated that the resident, Leroy Windom, 58, obtained illegal drugs by trading stolen property for the drugs.

While executing the search warrant, officers located not only illegal drugs but also hundreds of stolen items, which included lawn mowers, power washers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, hand tools, tires, wheel rims, watches and many other items. Two guns also were found.

Investigators with the Cartersville Police Department are in the process of checking the items taken to see if they have been reported as being stolen. Many of the items already have come back as stolen.

The following individuals were arrested at the residence: Leroy Windom, 58; Fadrick Grissom, 35; and Curtis Turner, 60, all of Cartersville. Lawanda Wilbanks, 26, of Rockmart also was arrested.

Grissom, Turner and Wilbanks have been charged with possession of cocaine. Windom has been charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, sale of cocaine, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Other charges may be forthcoming.

The investigation is continuing.
