According to the Cartersville police report, Michael James Scott, 40, was speeding through Cartersville when an officer stopped him at Cherokee Place.
The officer reported a strong odor of marijuana was immediately detectable, prompting him to call for backup.
Various plastic baggies were visible and he allegedly told the officers “that the ‘weed’ was inside the vehicle.” Two large, plastic-wrapped bundles of suspected marijuana were found in Scott’s pocket, weighing roughly 1.75 ounces. Officers also found a 10 milligram pill of suspected Ambien.
During the course of the search, Scott reportedly received text messages pertaining to the marijuana. The officer reported a search of the phone “revealed several text messages from several different suspects requesting dollar amounts of an unnamed substance.”
Scott was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule IV drug, drugs not kept in original container and speeding.
