Woodland lost a heart breaker to No. 3 ranked North Paulding in girls high school soccer play.

Kyle Morgan, Woodland coach, said North Paulding was awarded a penalty kick in the game’s 36th minute and were able to convert it for the game’s only score.

“They won and they deserved to win,” Morgan said. “They are ranked the state’s No. 3 team for a reason.”

He said the win clinches the region title for North Paulding.

He said Woodland still remains in the hunt for a state playoff berth.

“We are one of five or six teams that will be competiting for the last three spots,” he said.

Morgan said he liked Woodland’s play in the game. “If we play that way in all of our remaining games, we should be have a chance to win each of them.”
