On Aug. 10 and 11, certain items will be excluded from state and local sales and use tax for the first time since 2009. The timing, however, has received criticism from some as most school systems begin before the holiday weekend.
Bartow County Schools start back on Friday, Aug. 10, while Cartersville City Schools return to class on Wednesday, Aug. 8.
